Great Kitchen Design

Here is a great design idea I just had to post - this is such a wonderful, ingenious design. I am anxious to use it in my next project. The first view is entering the kitchen. Notice the raised island area where the the stools are placed.

Here is the view from the other side. It is the perfect space for storing dishes, bowls and mugs. Isn't that so very clever?

I think this design idea would work especially well in a vacation home. Guests getting up in the morning at all different times and they can simply find everything they need without feeling uncomfortable rummaging through the cabinets. What do you think? Like it or love it?

  1. I do like those hidden cubbies. A good use of space and so many uses to boot!

  2. I absolutely love it! I love the raised bench and the crockery storage... but here in hot humid, Queensland, we have a lot of creepy crawlies. Even with a spotless, disinfected home... they still get in. I wouldn't be able to eat off the plates without thinking about what had crawled over them the night before! A sad but true harsh reality! 4. Interesting idea, I have not seen this before.

I am wishing I could redo my kitchen! There are so many breakthroughs in kitchen design since my house was built 20 years ago.

  6. Love it! i like that they're hidden from view in the lounge area. I'm doing something similar at our cabin, for the exact reason you mentioned - easy for guests to find.

  9. I'm quite liking the european look although i would really like the high surfaces i dont know how it would be with the children. I'm based in England and am currently researching for my kitchen redesign. I've just signed the contract for a bespoke kitchen design so am on the look out for some unique or contemporary design features. I have a young family at the moment and we're extending the house to make room for our third child and lucky me i get a new kitchen too. I'm having to live elsewhere though as the building work is at an open house stage and my 9 month old can do without the draft. it'll all be worth it though! Maybe i can get the coffee bar look to my next kitchen... in about 20 years, it is lovely.

  10. I was scouting to see an example of a counter height eating bar with chairs that did not match the kitchen cabinets when I came across this photo. My cabinets will be light and the chairs are almost exactly the color of some I saw (and eventually purchased as a result of this photo). I was worried that the light cabinets with darker chairs might not look good ... I needn't have worried because the effect is awesome!! thanks for helping me out !
